MRO
During 2023 the AAG Commercial team have remained focused on developing long-term partnerships with existing customers while also securing new customers for our expanding Shannon operation, now comprised of two (2) airside hangar facilities with combined capability for 12 lines of heavy base maintenance together with extensive back shop capabilities and ancillary support services (NDT, fabrication, other).
Our MRO continues to leverage extensive experience in both Airbus and Boeing with base maintenance approvals for A320 family (CEO & NEO/LEAP) and Boeing 737, 757, 767 and 787 types. We are exploring the addition of services and capabilities on these types during 2024 to drive increased value for our growing customer base. In parallel, we continue to develop our well-established and experienced Cargo base maintenance offering in Shannon and are working on a pipeline of new products and services to better serve this market from 2024 onwards.
The winter base maintenance season is well underway in Shannon with a combination of existing and new customer maintenance programmes in progress. Our Sales team remain available to speak with existing and prospective customers to discuss your maintenance needs, whether large base maintenance programmes or smaller projects such as cabin modifications, aircraft parking and storage needs and so on.

CAMO & Technical Services
As 2023 draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during the year. We welcomed new customers (aircraft lessors and airlines) to our existing customer base and with the expansion of our scope of capabilities, provided CAMO Services on different aircraft types. This will be further enhanced with the addition of the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 in 2024. Furthermore, the CAMO team is working on a revision of the current CAME to streamline processes and efficiencies.
Members of the CAMO team participated in the Cayman Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) in Dublin recently. This coincided with the launch of the new VPC online platform. All current CAMOs are invited to re-apply for current approval for visibility on the new platform.
CAACI recognises the additional complexities involved in transition CAMO and has requested CAMOs to apply for Transition CAMO approval to ensure a more cohesive working relationship between CAACI and CAMOs. Additional privileges to Transition CAMO include:
- Aircraft Inspections will be conducted by Approved CAMO staff (CAACI generally perform oversight inspections)
- Collaboration with the CAMO and Authority will ensure efficiency for project progression and aircraft safety
- Recommendations will be issued by approved CAMO on the completion of the Aircraft Airworthiness Review Report (a more comprehensive and standardized version of the existing report)
- Authority will work closely with CAMO to find solutions to issues that arise, particularly in complex situations such as airlines that cease operations and aircraft recovery

Design Services
In this edition of the newsletter, we begin with a short reflection of progress within the Part 21J Design Organisation team over the past few months. Firstly, we had a restructuring of the team and internal processes to align with current and future EASA requirements.
The team has expanded and closed out a significant volume of basic to complex projects. In June, the DOA attended the International Safety Conference organised by EASA and FAA. In October, attended the EASA Certification Conference in Cologne. The premise for attending both events was to ensure we are fully aware and compliant with the latest standards and decisions for rule making, but also future constraints in terms of regulation and industry standards to improve safety and address ESG requirements. Also in October, we had the pleasure of attending MRO Europe in Amsterdam to catch up with our global customers. We had an opportunity to review new technologies for cabin and avionics equipment and share our views on the current trends from a Part 21J perspective.
Looking forward to 2024, our focus will be to expand the current scope and scale of capabilities within the team and continue to engage with EASA for ongoing developments in design, certifications, and airworthiness. We hope to share some interesting developments that will have significant benefits for customers.
